Pie Contest

For our first annual festival in September 2011, we were thrilled by the amazing pies entered into the pie contest.  We’re already excited for next year’s pie fest- check back here to register your pies summer 2012!

Pie Contest:

The pie contest will be broken down into two judging categories, SWEET and SAVORY.

Categories:

Sweet:

- Cream or Pudding
- Fruit
- Nut
- Most Innovative
- Miniature (under 4″ each pie)
- Vegan
- Kosher
- Gluten-Free
- Best in Fest Sweet

Savory:

- Meat
- Vegan
- Vegetarian
- Egg
- Kosher
- Gluten-Free
- Miniature (under 4″ each pie)
- Most Unexpectedly Good
- Best in Fest Savory

Entry Rules:

Contestants must bring two full size pies (or 12 mini-pies).  One will be submitted for judging/taste testing, the other will be auctioned off.   Judging will take place at 2640 St. Paul during the festival.  We will be accepting a limited number of pies per category.  Once the category has been filled, it will be noted on the above list.  All pies will be stored/served at room temperature once they are dropped off.  We will not have the equipment to heat/cool your pie, nor will we have space for you to bring your own.  Pies must be able to sit at room temperature for multiple hours.

If your pie is eligible to be considered in a specialty category (gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, kosher), please specify in your description.  Pies not declared as specialty will not be considered for these categories.

Judging Criteria:

Pies will be judged based on the following formula- 50% flavor, 20% texture, 20% creativity/interpretation, 10% appearance.
